Contractors · SEO

Contractor SEO that makes you the one they call first.

When somebody searches "contractor near me" — or for the specific trade and town they need — the business at the top of Google gets the call. We build the complete SEO system that puts you there: full Google Business Profile optimization, local rankings, reviews and a page for every service you offer in every place you serve.

Why It Matters

Most of your competition never turned up.

74% have not built the pages

We crawled 1,838 contractors who already hold a place in their own town's results. 74% have no pages for the services they offer in the places they serve. The work that wins local search is work most of your market has simply not done.

The map pack takes the calls

Most local clicks go to the three map results above the organic listings, and your Google Business Profile is what ranks there. If it is not optimized you are invisible at the moment somebody is ready to hire.

Being found beats being best

A site with pages for its services in its places is found 1.6 times as often as one with nothing aimed at either. The gap is not talent or price. It is whether a page exists for what the customer typed.

What's Included

Everything a contracting business needs to rank and get found.

Inside the Local Leader office at night

Google Business Profile Optimization

The right primary category, your real service list, photos and posts — the single biggest lever on your map pack position, fully managed.

Service & Location Pages

A page for each service you offer in each place you serve, written rather than templated. This is the architecture 74% of your competitors have skipped.

Contractor Keyword Targeting

We target the searches that book work — the trade plus the town, the emergency phrasing, and the long tail your competitors never built a page for.

Reviews That Rank

Steady review generation and replies to every review. Pack membership runs from 7% to 57% across review-count quartiles — the steepest gradient in our study.

Technical Foundations

Schema, speed, mobile and crawlability. Our study found the median contractor site takes 9.8 seconds to load on mobile; Google's line is 2.5.

Reporting You Can Read

Monthly reporting on rankings, calls and leads, so you always know what the work is returning rather than what was busy.

Search Coverage

The contractor searches we help you win.

When somebody types one of these into Google, your SEO decides whether they find you or the contractor down the road. These are the high-intent searches we build your rankings around.

Our Research

We measured the competition. Most of it is unattended.

Before we say what we would do for your contracting business, here is what we measured across the market you are competing in.

Nearly half have never told Google what they are

49% had no LocalBusiness schema — the one format built for stating what a business does and where. A further quarter had structured data a plugin added for them, which describes the website and says nothing about the business.

A sixth have no structured data at all

16% carried not a single line of JSON-LD. To an AI answer engine deciding who to name for a trade in a city, those businesses are prose to be guessed at rather than a record to be read.

Two thirds have no page aimed at your town

64% have no real service-and-location architecture, and half have not a single page aimed at a town. The search a homeowner actually types — the trade plus the place — has nothing on their site pointed at it.

More than a third ask Google to pick between duplicates

37% of the sites we read reused one title across several pages. That asks Google to choose between pages all claiming to be the same thing. It usually picks the home page, and the service pages never surface.

A third have a page with no H1

34% had at least one page with no H1 at all. Small on its own, and a reliable sign that nobody has looked at the page the way a search engine does.

A third cannot be read at all

18% had no sitemap, and a third of the businesses we pulled from public listings served nothing we could read — parked, blocked, timed out or simply gone. Every citation pointing there is a dead end, and the owner almost certainly does not know.

The cheapest paid lead still charges you for every job

Local Services Ads are the cheapest paid route into contracting work and they sit above everything else on the page. We set them up and manage them alongside the SEO rather than instead of it.

How We Work

Four steps, in this order.

We measure before we touch anything

The same checks we ran across 500 US contractor websites, run against yours: whether Google can read your pages, whether your services and service areas each have one, and what your profile looks like beside the companies already ranking.

We fix what is structurally broken first

Schema, titles, headings, speed, the sitemap. None of it is glamorous and all of it is cheap compared with what it unlocks. There is no point building content on a site Google cannot read.

We build the pages that match the search

A page for each service and each town you can genuinely evidence — not one page per town with the name swapped, which is the thing Google has spent years learning to ignore.

We keep the profile and the reviews moving

Your Google Business Profile does more for map rankings than anything on your website. It needs photos, posts and a steady flow of reviews, every month, not once at setup.

What It Costs

The price, before you have to ask.

Most agencies in this trade will not put a number on a page. We would rather you knew now than spent a call finding out. The website build is free in every plan — no setup fee, no build fee — and you own it from the day it goes live.

Surge · $399/mo

The starting point for a contracting business ready to invest in being found. Website, local SEO, profile and reviews run as one system rather than four invoices.

Local Leader · $1,499/mo

The complete system, for companies that intend to lead the market rather than appear in it. $1,199/mo billed yearly.

Enterprise · from $5,999/mo

Franchises and operations running five or more locations. From $4,799/mo billed yearly.

No long contracts and no setup fees. If you leave you keep the website, the domain, the Google Business Profile and the analytics — ask every agency you speak to for that in writing. See what is in each plan.

FAQ

Contractor SEO — common questions.

Most contractors see meaningful movement in the map pack within 3–6 months, compounding after that. Local SEO builds a durable stream of leads rather than a spike, and the earlier work — profile, reviews, service pages — tends to move first.

We deliver it as part of a monthly Local Leader package rather than a one-off project, so your website, map pack, reviews and content work as one system. See packages.

It is usually worth more to a small business than a large one, because the gap is architectural rather than financial. 74% of the contractors already ranking in their own towns have not built pages for their services in their places — that is a gap you close with work, not with budget.

Local SEO is the broader discipline — map pack, profile, citations, reviews. Contractor SEO is that work aimed at how people actually search for trades: the trade plus the town, emergency phrasing, and quote-stage comparison searches.

Not always. We audit what you have first. If the site can be read by Google, loads quickly enough and can carry a page per service per area, we build on it. If it cannot, a rebuild is included in the package rather than quoted separately.

Yes, and that is most of the point. The map pack is tightly tied to where the searcher is, so additional towns are won with pages and profile signals aimed at each one rather than by ranking a single page harder.

Rankings for the searches that book work, map pack position, calls, and form leads. Not impressions, and not a traffic number that goes up while the phone does not.

We publish our own research rather than citing other people's. We crawled 500 contractor websites, then 1,838 of their competitors, and published what we found — including the parts that cut against us. Read the benchmarks study.
